Colours - GROUPLOVE [Show me Music 1]
Here it is:
I chose GROUPELOVE to be the first band (actually the first song) to be reviewed by me in this blog for a simple reason: I saw them recently.
They weren't aware of it , at all , because I was just one of 50 thousand people , at Optimus Alive, in Oeiras Portugal, to see them , back in the 6th of July.
Honestly they were great. They were kind of anonymous here, they went in the same day Coldplay and Blondie did, but they were definitely one of the main bands there. Without knowing many songs from them, since they have only released and EP , I wasn't expecting much. In fact I was sleeping on the artificial grass by the time they went on stage. But then....
Then they came in, full of life, the bass player with a cool tshirt, hand made saying "love lisbon", they were showing really cool alternative rock ( although I must say the audience was not really prepared, although I am a great fan of AR , huum that's more for Super Bock Super Rock festival, but hey I loved it).
One of the singers , Hannah Hooper , gave a brilliant show, she even put a mask on her face , like she was role playing and acting. They'r voices really combine as you can see by this song.
Colours was there, in the end , we all waited for it, but "Naked Kids" and "Gold Coast" really made the show an awesome one. Everybody was thrilled , everybody was clapping , everybody wanted more. In the middle of the show, even a plane appeared doing some crazy shit , which they called a "surprise".
About "Colours"...
Let me just say the videoclip is amazing. I love the style , reminds me the "Empire of the sun" band ( credits to Jordan Bahat).
It's starts with the lead singer being carried , arrested by some guys, to a three , to be hanged.
When they start hanging him , the music starts. Fantastic blend with the video . "I am a man, man, man, man
Up, up in the air
And I run around, round, round, round this down town and act like I don't care." Amazing.
Then we see his clan, (the band), waiting for the right time to save him. "Hu , ah " in the background give the intensity. Then they attack the guys , they save the lead singer and the music really starts rocking. It's has a clear rock tone but still quite alternative. Almost like Franz Ferdinand in their first album.
Then we see a more calm situation, with some tribal stuff , group unity and intimacy between the 2 singers.
"We call it life". Yes you could almost predict what happens in the end , but it's way 2 sad for you to believe.
What he sees , those colours in his head, that light he sees... He was hanged and nobody saved him. So the song in the videoclip just tells the story about a man that is dying and his wishes and dreams of life ,that now end since he well, is hanged.
Great great song, great videoclip, amazing imo.
To end here it is, the band preforming in Optimus Alive 11, with the plane in the air. enjoy :)

How Robots Make Guitars. What???
An amazing video showing just how machines can create fully automatically a guitar. The video is from the Japanese company DAISHIN SEIKI CORPORATION. The guitar weights 7kg , and it's made of aluminium and titanium .
The result? An amazing guitar, manga style of course :) .
The Grooveshark Effect
After this prolonged introduction let us begin xD.
Grooveshark. For those who don't know ( http://grooveshark.com/) , it's a website where you... hear music... for free. I don't know many aspects of the website, I just know that my brother told me about it and 5 minutes later there I was , listening and clicking "Indie" playlist, and starting a non stop odyssey towards the infinite music . Seriously , I haven't stopped hearing music. Ok I have but whenever I am in the Eee PC , I click play in grooveshark and boom! Hours and hours of music I have never heard. I never heard them , but must of them I like. If I don't like I had an evil :( and bam I never hear that music again. And I keep hearing more and more music, more and more according to my taste.
Now , I do love music but my question is: I am hearing hours of music for free. I can't even formulate a question. I AM HEARING HOURS OF MUSIC FOR FREE ( and I am not doing anything illegal or whatsoever ).
The point of grooveshark is possibly to promote young bands , so in someway it's not a totally free service. They boost bands popularity , while playing some musics from some "popular bands", and they pay to play the music of those "popular bands", and they pay because they earn money from the ads they display to us, users.
I DECLARE AWESOME.
Soon I will start writing reviews of bands, musics and films, and I am hopping to post a lot about these new bands, some of them really impressed me so... so they deserve the opinion of a not at all known blogger.
Maybe if someone reads the review I post, and then if that someone posts a review based on my review in a better blog and if someone reads the review based on my review and posts ... meh... butterfly effect is way 2 complicated xD
